It was a huge success for the resort of Les 2 Alpes!
Thanks to all the teams and especially to our mountain bike ambassador Adrien LORON, who designed the event!
The URBAN DH 1800 DISTRICT, held this weekend, attracted a huge crowd for a first in the French mountains. Already popular in South America and in towns such as Grasse and Grenoble, this competition found a spectacular new playground in Les 2 Alpes.
The first edition of this event was a resounding success, bringing together world-renowned mountain bike champions: the competition saw the TOP 25 international riders go head-to-head, putting on an exceptional show.
Among them were World Cup downhill athletes such as world champion Sam Blenkinsop, Ecuadorian veteran Mario Jarrin and the young Spanish prodigy Oriol Alcala, aged just 14, who impressed with his performance.
The course, located in the heart of the 1800 village, stretched over urban terrain at altitudes of between 1800m and 1650m. Ideal weather conditions, with glorious sunshine and blue skies, added to the general enthusiasm. Large numbers of spectators were able to watch the aerobatics and the technical mastery of the pilots live on a giant screen.
Twelve nationalities were represented at this first edition, testifying to the international nature of the event. The pilots demonstrated remarkable dexterity, agility and technical skill, flying with precision over imposing wooden modules and hurtling down steep staircases. It was a real spectacle, with the athletes pushing the limits of their discipline on this demanding terrain. All in all, the URBAN DH 1800 DISTRICT weekend provided an opportunity to discover a fast-growing urban discipline and admire the technical prowess of exceptional riders. A memorable event for spectators and participants alike.
