ENERGY COMMITMENT

ENERGY COMMITMENT

Living and working in the mountains takes great responsibility.
We are fully aware of the issues we face and we want to rise to the challenge. Over the past 10 years, we have undertaken many measures in favour of sustainable development, and we will continue to take this course of action.

NO ROOM FOR CLIMATE CHANGE SCEPTICS IN LES 2 ALPES

We are already fully committed to sustainability

We are already fully committed to sustainability. Since 2020, buildings open to the public, and seasonal accommodation have undergone an upgrading of their insulation. Many businesses in the resort are already applying the sustainable development measures in their establishments.

We are working towards obtaining the "Flocon vert" /"green snowflake" labelLABEL FLOCON VERT Mountain Riders Assiciation

This label, created and awarded by the MOUNTAIN RIDERS ASSOCIATION, promotes mountain destinations who comply with the
20-step sustainable development criteria. Since applying in 2020, we have begun to make the necessary changes in order to gain the title.

We want to be carbon neutral16 ECO-MEASURESFrench Ski Areas

In 2020, we committed to following the environmental road-map of 16 eco-measures made by the French Ski Areas in order to protect the mountains.

PLEASE SUPPORT OUR EFFORTS

We are striving to be a resort of the future...

250,000 is the number of visitors we are expecting this winter.

We encourage each and every one of you to undertake the eco citizen good practices recommended in this guide, every little action. In applying these good practices, you will reduce your energy consumption, and lower your carbon footprint, helping to better protect the environment.

OUR COMMITMENT TO SUPPORT ENERGY EFFICENCY

2022-2023 WINTER

For the 2022-2023 winter season, we are taking on the challenge of providing you with a wonderful holiday while also being cautious of our energy consumption.
The Tourism Office has launched an initiative that brings together the SATA Group, the town council and resort professionals. Together, we are implementing actions in favour of energy efficiency during the winter months.
These measures are explained in this guide, to help you understand how we have been able to reduce our energy consumption by more than 10%, with very little impact on your holiday.

SATA GROUP

Measures taken on the ski slopes: will they affect your sports activities?

For the coming winter season, SATA Group is stepping up its commitments. Measures taken across the entire ski area will allow us to reduce our energy consumption by 10%.

This will have very little impact on your sporting activities! The ski area remains open without any disruptions, and prices will not increase. You can enjoy your ski experience with total peace of mind.

SNOW

We have reduced the production of snow.
We will not produce snow when the ski lifts are in operation, and when we do, we favour production in the off-peak hours.

Moderate impact depending on snow conditions.

STAFF

Our staff members are fully aware of our eco-friendly development plan.
Our teams follow a three-part training programme, teaching them how to reduce our energy consumption. We opt to use natural lighting, reduce our heating temperatures to 19°C and use visuals to remind teams of the eco friendly good practices to adopt.

No impact.

PISTE GROOMERS

We monitor the use of piste groomers.
All our drivers are trained to be fuel efficient when driving and all vehicles are fitted with fuel consumption indicators. As a result, our use of fossil fuels and electrical energy has been greatly reduced.

No impact.

SPEED

We adjust the speed of the ski lifts.
All our drivers are trained in fuel efficiency, altering the speed of the lifts according to demand

No impact.

SEASON DURATION

We are reducing the length of the ski season by one week.
This allows us to keep the same schedules as in previous seasons, and to keep prices consistent, whilst using 10% less energy

Moderate impact.

SKI LIFTS

Optimized use.
During periods of low demand, we will certain ski lifts leading to sectors/ runs that are served by other lifts

Moderate impact depending on snow conditions.

LES 2 ALPES TOWN COUNCIL

7 steps to combine the joys of the mountains and energy efficiency.

The municipality has its sights set on the Flocon Vert (Green Snowflake) label. With many sustainable development initiatives underway, locals and tourism professionals are determined to protect their region and ensure that it remains a destination of the future.

CREW

All staff members are fully aware of our eco-friendly measures.
We do not use unnecessary lighting and limit the temperature of our heating systems to 19°C. At the end of the day, control inspections modify the nighttime temperature and ensure that any unnecessary lights are switched off.

LIGHTING

We aim to provide sufficient lighting and maintain the safety of all our residents.
The lighting of public areas has been adjusted to save energy, whilst still ensuring your safety. Atmospheric lighting is avoided wherever possible, and we use eco-friendly decorative lighting, equipped with energy-efficient LED bulbs.

INSULATION

We are improving the insulation of our buildings.
Since 2020, the town council has introduced a multi-year plan to renovate the
insulation in all public buildings. The purpose of this is to optimize the running of these communal facilities, whist contributing to reducing energy consumption as a community.

HEATING

We use our heating systems responsibly.
With the help of smart thermostats, we can control the heating systems in our public buildings, hence enabling us to limit the temperature to 19°C.

SNOW CLEARING

Optimized snow clearing.
Snow clearance of the resort’s roads has become more efficient. Non-essential journeys are avoided, and any excess snow is immediately removed.

ICE RINK

We have installed an energy-efficient ice rink.
The ice rink is open from December to March. It is equipped with a drip-feed device system allowing us to maintain the thickness of the ice whilst reducing our energy consumption.

SHUTTLE BUSES

We operate a free shuttle buse service.
We provide free electric public transport. These shuttle buses run frequently around the resort, so you no longer need to use your car.

THE TOURISM OFFICE AND RESORT PROFESSIONALS

THE RESORT PROFESSIONALS ARE COMMITTED TO A CSR
CHARTER TO REDUCE ENERGY CONSUMPTION.

We are committed to protecting what we love: the mountains. We promote sustainable tourism and are working hard to reduce energy consumption. In this unprecedented context, the Tourism Office unites resort professionals around its ”Les 2 Alpes s’engage ’’

This logo makes it easy to find professionals who are dramatically reducing their energy consumption. They promise to respect a charter comprising 7 collective commitments, in addition to those relating specifically to their
profession.
